For colder trips pick sleeping bags rated appropriately—many overland bags go down to 0°F or lower—while keeping in mind the tent’s internal space for a 2–4 person layout.

Look for awnings with sidewalls and durable, waterproof materials to block wind and rain while you cook, plus easy-attach points for hanging lights or a gear shelf. Compact compatibility with fold-up camp tables and chairs makes meal prep simpler, and reinforced seams or aluminum framing improve wind resistance during longer stops.
