Santa Cruz Bicycles

Frequently Asked Questions

• What is Santa Cruz's VPP (Virtual Pivot Point) suspension and how does it affect ride performance?

VPP is a dual‑link suspension layout that shifts the instant center through the travel to balance pedaling efficiency, small‑bump sensitivity and mid‑stroke support. The result is improved traction on technical climbs, composed descending on big hits (seen on Nomad and Bronson), and tunable anti‑squat for different models and travel ranges.
• How does Santa Cruz's proportional geometry work and why does it matter?

Proportional geometry scales reach, stack and chainstay length across frame sizes so handling and balance remain consistent from XS to XXL. That means a Hightower or Tallboy retains the same intended steering and stability characteristics for different riders without forcing size compromises.
• What’s the difference between Carbon C and Carbon CC frame options?

Carbon CC uses higher‑modulus fibers and lighter layups for the lowest possible weight and a race‑oriented feel, while Carbon C uses tougher layups that emphasize impact resistance and value. Choose Carbon CC for lightweight builds like the Blur/Highball race models and Carbon C for hard‑riding trail bikes where durability is a priority.
• Which Santa Cruz models are best for trail, enduro, and XC riding?

For XC and racing the Highball and Blur/Blur TR offer ~100–120mm travel and low weight; for versatile trail riding the Tallboy, 5010 and Hightower cover ~130–160mm and a wide range of terrain; for aggressive enduro the Bronson and Nomad provide ~160–170mm and more capable geometry, while the V10 is the dedicated DH platform.
