Santa Cruz Tallboy CC carbon frame with 4-bar suspension and slacker geometry for trail riding

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"The Tallboy has always climbed well and descended capably, but the new generation tips the balance without losing what made it special. Ten more millimeters of rear travel and a slacker head angle mean it handles terrain that would have pushed the previous version past its limits, and the steeper seat tube keeps the climbing position powerful enough that the added travel never feels like a penalty."

Why We Like It

Santa Cruz moved the Tallboy from VPP to a four-bar suspension platform for this generation after testing 15 different link configurations, a deliberate choice that prioritizes handling confidence without sacrificing the pedaling efficiency the Tallboy has always been known for. The geo flip chip lets us raise or lower the BB and adjust the head tube angle with a single Allen key, so the bike can be set up for long climbs or opened up for more aggressive descending without swapping parts.

Santa Cruz Tallboy

More Trail, Less Weight

What Makes The Tallboy

New VPfree Suspension

After testing 15 link iterations, Santa Cruz landed on the new four-bar platform that pedals better and descends harder than any previous Tallboy. It tracks better through rough terrain on the way up, and stays planted and controlled on the way down.

CC Carbon On Every Build

Once reserved for top-tier builds, CC Carbon is now standard across the entire Tallboy lineup. Their lightest, stiffest carbon construction delivers responsive handling and cuts 300 grams from the previous generation.

Rebuilt For More Travel

Updated geometry balances a slacker head tube angle for stability on descents with a steeper seat tube angle for power on climbs. More travel, no efficiency penalty.

The Tallboy's Hi/Lo geometry flip chip at the bottom bracket, allowing riders to toggle between a higher or slacker ride position to suit trail conditions.

Terrain Tuned Flip Chip

Two geometry settings give riders precise control over how the Tallboy feels on trail. High keeps the bike efficient on long climbs, low adds stability for technical descents.

Glovebox V2

In-frame storage keeps trail essentials accessible without adding bulk outside the frame. An improved latch and longer downtube mean more capacity and a rattle-free ride.
