Why We Like The Ibis Ripley GX AXS Transmission Mountain Bike
Believe it or not, the Ripley just got better. Ibis is back with their new Ripley, which features a redesigned frame shape, updated suspension travel numbers, and revised geometry to bring us the best Ripley. Taking the rear travel from 120 to 130mm of DW-Link suspension, the Ripley ups its capability and confidence all over the mountain. The Ripley now rocks a 140mm fork and 64.9-degree head tube angle, ensuring we are ready to take on the steepest trails around, while its longer wheelbase and reach give us more stability and balance in sketchy situations. Now available in five sizes, the Ripley receives a massive improvement in sizing, giving every sized rider a more precise fit. Another key upgrade to the Ripley comes in the way of size-specific geometry, giving us chainstays, seat tube angles, and bottom bracket heights specific to the frame size for a balanced fit and feel. Whether we prefer a mullet or 29-inch wheels, the Ripley has the best of both worlds and comes stock with 29-inch wheels but deploys mixed-wheel compatibility with a simple turn of the flip chip on the rear shock link. Finally, Ibis released their new internal frame storage system with the updated Ripmo and Ripley, featuring a unique lever-action door and special edition storage bags.
The GX Transmission build is the perfect high-level build without getting too flashy. First up is Ibis's premium carbon frame, which sports a lightweight and durable carbon layup that has a great reputation. SRAM's GX Transmission drivetrain equips us with a 12-speed drivetrain that shifts electronically for precision and efficiency. A Fox Float Factory DPS rear shock keeps the ground on lock and sports highly-tunable settings for performance on the trails, while the Fox Float 34 Factory GripX fork has us covered with top-tier descending and climbing performance.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level. Heads up - We do our best to keep bike specs and images current, but occasional component changes can happen without warning-and sometimes the photos might not show the exact build you'll receive. If you want to double-check the details, our Gearheads are always here to help.

Size-Specific Everything
Every rider deserves the same ride feel. Size-specific seat tube angles, suspension kinematics, chainstay length, and bottom bracket height keep the Ripley balanced and fast across all frame sizes.

5 Sizes
With 80% of riders between 5'5" and 6'0", Ibis introduced a new Extra-Medium (size 3) for a more precise fit. The Ripley now offers five sizes to better match rider proportions.

Flip It
A flip chip lets riders run 29" wheels or a mixed 29"/27.5" MX setup without compromising geometry. The Ripley ships with 29" wheels.

DW-Link Suspension
The dw-link suspension platform delivers efficient climbing and confident descending. Size-specific kinematics keep every frame size pedaling efficiently while staying smooth on rough trails.

Internal Frame Storage
Carry tools and snacks inside the frame with a water-resistant, rattle-free storage system. The easy-to-use latch works even with gloves in cold or muddy conditions. Includes two Cotopaxi-made storage bags crafted from remnant materials.

Built To Fly
Ibis Cycles started in 1981 when founder Scot Nicol opened a tiny workshop near Mendocino, California, with no big plan beyond building mountain bikes that were fun to ride and tough enough for the rough stuff. Today, from its home base in Santa Cruz, Ibis remains a small, rider-owned company focused on doing a few things really well: designing carbon and aluminum mountain bikes that climb efficiently, descend playfully, and feel lively every time you point them down the trail. With long-time owners and in-house engineering still deeply involved in the day-to-day, the brand stands for bikes that are light, durable, and above all, a blast to ride—whether you are racing, lapping local trails, or just chasing that next perfect corner.
