Race-bred Ripley SL Mountain Bike Frame blends XC speed and trail confidence in a lightweight carbon build

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I’ve been waiting for a frame like this. The Ripley SL frame feels purpose-built for riders who want XC efficiency without giving up trail capability. The dw-link suspension stays composed when you’re pushing hard, and the weight savings are immediately noticeable on long climbs. Add the in-frame storage and modern geometry, and it’s an easy foundation for a fast, versatile build."

The Ripley SL Mountain Bike Frame from Ibis is built for riders who chase efficiency but still want to ride aggressively when the trail turns technical. Designed and manufactured in California, this lightweight carbon frame blends race-day urgency with everyday trail confidence, making it an ideal starting point for a modern cross-country or short-travel trail build.

At the heart of the Ripley SL is 117mm of dw-link rear travel, tuned to deliver exceptional pedaling efficiency while staying active and composed over roots, rocks, and fast corners. The frame is designed around a 130mm fork to balance quick handling with added front-end confidence, and modern geometry keeps the ride stable without feeling sluggish on climbs.

Heads up - We do our best to keep bike specs and images current, but occasional component changes can happen without warning-and sometimes the photos might not show the exact build you'll receive. If you want to double-check the details, our Gearheads are always here to help.

Thoughtful details round out the package, including Ibis STOW in-frame storage with dedicated bags, clearance for wide 29in tires, and compatibility with modern drivetrains and braking systems. Whether you’re lining up for endurance events or building a lightweight trail rig that thrives on long days in the saddle, the Ripley SL frame delivers a refined, purpose-driven platform.

Sungrown In California

The Ripley SL is manufactured in Ibis’ 100% solar-powered California facility, where carbon layups, tolerances, and finishes are controlled in-house. That hands-on process delivers consistent quality, a refined ride feel, and confidence baked into every frame.

117mm, Dialed DW-Link

Short travel does not mean short on capability. The 117mm dw-link suspension is tuned for efficiency under power while staying composed when the trail gets rough, giving the Ripley SL a fast, controlled feel that rewards smooth lines and hard efforts.

Race-Weight Carbon Frame

At just 5 pounds with shock, the Ripley SL frame keeps overall bike weight low without chasing fragility. The result is a lively, responsive ride that accelerates quickly and feels easy to manage on long climbs and full days in the saddle.

Dialed STOW Storage

Integrated Ibis STOW frame storage keeps tools, snacks, and essentials tucked securely inside the downtube. Two purpose-built bags reduce rattle and wasted space, helping riders leave packs behind while keeping weight centered and out of the way.

Built To Fly

Ibis Cycles started in 1981 when founder Scot Nicol opened a tiny workshop near Mendocino, California, with no big plan beyond building mountain bikes that were fun to ride and tough enough for the rough stuff. Today, from its home base in Santa Cruz, Ibis remains a small, rider-owned company focused on doing a few things really well: designing carbon and aluminum mountain bikes that climb efficiently, descend playfully, and feel lively every time you point them down the trail. With long-time owners and in-house engineering still deeply involved in the day-to-day, the brand stands for bikes that are light, durable, and above all, a blast to ride—whether you are racing, lapping local trails, or just chasing that next perfect corner.
