Ultralight Barrage Technical Shell brings waterproof stretch protection to fast-moving adventures

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I like bringing this shell when I want something super lightweight but still capable of handling unpredictable weather. It stretches well when you're moving, packs down easily, and dries quickly if you get caught in a quick shower. At only about six ounces, it’s the kind of jacket you can always justify throwing in your pack."

When the forecast is uncertain and adventure is on the agenda, the Barrage Technical Shell gives us lightweight protection we can always keep within reach. Coalatree designed this versatile shell to move easily between trail days, travel, and everyday exploration, delivering dependable weather resistance without unnecessary bulk.

The innovative S.Café fabric blends recycled plastic with coffee-ground fibers to create a performance textile that reduces waste while maintaining breathable comfort. Four-way stretch construction allows natural movement while hiking, scrambling, or navigating city streets, and weather-sealed zippers help protect both us and our gear when conditions turn wet. A plant-based C0 DWR coating adds reliable water repellency without fluorinated chemicals.

Weighing just six ounces, the Barrage Technical Shell is easy to pack and carry anywhere. Its quick-drying weave helps shed moisture rapidly, while UV resistance provides added protection during sunny outdoor days. Lightweight, sustainable, and built for movement, it’s the kind of shell we keep close whenever adventure calls.

Loving my new Barrage tech jacket from Coalatree! Had to test it out in a few monsoon storm and this thing is no joke. Waterproof, packable, and flex for days when doing physical activities... I'd recommend to anyone looking for a high quality, all around functional rain jacket! Size FYI - I'm 5'9" @155lbs and a Men's Small fits me like a glove.

Lightweight And Incredibly Comfortable

Having already bought both the Trailhead pants and the Trailhead shorts, I had high expectations for this jacket and, again, Coalatree did not disappoint. This jacket is extremely light for a waterproof technical jacket. It is comfortable to wear, has enough stretch that I don't feel trapped in it, and packs down really small to take up hardly any space in the backpack.

I've been searching out a rain coat for a few months. My girlfriend has a Patagonia Torrentshell and I was very jealous of it when we hiked the Overland Track. The Barrage Technical Shell is, in almost all regards, the same protection and weight as the Torrentshell. But, I feel better buying the Barrage Technical Shell after reading more about Coalatree's ethical practices. And, the Barrage is a few bucks cheaper. It's been keeping me dry in the wet of Australia without feeling like a hot box, and that's no easy feat. Win, win, win, all around.
