Gray Triathlon / TT Bike Cables

Check your bike’s battery location and shift unit, since EW-SD300 wires are typically longer for rear battery placement while EW-SD50 suit front shift units. Measure your intended routing against cable lengths and verify compatibility with your frame to avoid excess slack or rubbing.

Yes. The Shimano EW-AD305 adapter allows EW-SD50 11-speed units to interface with EW-SD300 12-speed wiring, though you should confirm routing and connector orientation to prevent excess cable slack. Verify each connection and testing shifting before race day to ensure smooth operation.

Polymer-coated cables like Optislick reduce friction during sustained, high-speed efforts and hold up better in wet or dusty races. Many Optislick sets use a 1.2mm inner diameter paired with 4mm housing and work well with Shimano cable grease to keep shifts smooth over long distances.

Look for sealed, low-compression designs such as Dura-Ace polymer or alloy housings that resist stretch and corrosion across 5000+ km of racing. Pair those housings with stainless steel or polymer-coated inner cables and regular lubrication to maintain consistent shift feel.

Shimano Di2 chargers rated around 108 to 120W output are specified for internal Di2 batteries commonly used on TT and tri frames. Confirm the charger’s connector matches your bike’s internal port and follow the manufacturer’s guidance for secure routing and charging.
