Smooth, confident Speedster Gravel 40 versatility for long mixed-terrain rides

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I like the Speedster Gravel 40 because it keeps things simple and reliable. The alloy frame is tough enough for rough roads but still comfortable for long days, and the Tiagra drivetrain shifts better than most expect at this price. It’s a bike I trust for winter base miles, gravel loops, and even light bikepacking. Nothing flashy—just a dependable setup that always delivers."

We turn to the Speedster Gravel 40 when we want to wander down roads that fade into forest, farmland, or wide-open valley floors. Its double-butted alloy frame gives us a confident feel over choppy washboard and uneven gravel, all while maintaining a comfortable posture for longer loops and exploratory rides. SCOTT’s internal routing keeps the bike clean and protected as we put in the miles.

The alloy fork absorbs vibration better than expected and pairs effortlessly with the wide 45c Schwalbe tires, giving us traction and control even on unpredictable surfaces. Shimano’s Tiagra 2x10 drivetrain offers dependable gearing for steep dirt climbs, and the mechanical disc brakes supply consistent stopping power in shifting conditions. Durable Syncros components round out a build designed for riders who want adventure without complication.

Heads up - We do our best to keep bike specs and images current, but occasional component changes can happen without warning-and sometimes the photos might not show the exact build you'll receive. If you want to double-check the details, our Gearheads are always here to help.
