Playful Ripley V5 powers fast climbs and spirited descents with balanced trail travel

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I’ve put serious miles on the new Ripley V5, and it just hits this sweet spot between agility and control. The DW-Link still climbs incredibly well, but the bump to 130mm rear and the slacker front end make it way more confident on rough terrain. The internal storage is surprisingly roomy, and the size-specific geometry puts me right in that centered, efficient riding position. It’s the kind of bike that makes 3-hour rides feel like 30 minutes."

We reach for the Ripley V5 when we want one bike that handles big adventures, fast-paced singletrack, and punchy climbs with equal enthusiasm. With Ibis shaping the Ripley around 130mm of DW-Link travel and a 140mm fork, this updated version brings more confidence on steep and technical terrain while keeping the lively, quick-feeling personality that made the platform a trail favorite. The brand’s thoughtful updates—slacker geometry, expanded sizing, and 29-inch speed—give us a trail companion that’s efficient everywhere and fun absolutely anywhere.

With the newest Ripley, versatility stays front and center. A flip chip adds MX compatibility for riders who want a more playful rear wheel, and an internal storage door clears space in our pack by locking tools, layers, or snacks inside the frame. Size-specific seat tube angles and kinematics ensure every rider gets the same centered pedaling position and consistent suspension feel. Paired with Fox Factory suspension, SRAM’s precise Eagle Transmission shifting, and the traction of Maxxis 2.4-inch tires, the Ripley V5 is tuned for long trail days, big backcountry missions, and flow-laced lunch rides alike.

Heads up - We do our best to keep bike specs and images current, but occasional component changes can happen without warning-and sometimes the photos might not show the exact build you'll receive. If you want to double-check the details, our Gearheads are always here to help.

Built To Fly

Ibis Cycles started in 1981 when founder Scot Nicol opened a tiny workshop near Mendocino, California, with no big plan beyond building mountain bikes that were fun to ride and tough enough for the rough stuff. Today, from its home base in Santa Cruz, Ibis remains a small, rider-owned company focused on doing a few things really well: designing carbon and aluminum mountain bikes that climb efficiently, descend playfully, and feel lively every time you point them down the trail. With long-time owners and in-house engineering still deeply involved in the day-to-day, the brand stands for bikes that are light, durable, and above all, a blast to ride—whether you are racing, lapping local trails, or just chasing that next perfect corner.
