Women's Triathlon Wetsuits

Full-sleeved suits are best for open-water swims below 65°F because they provide maximum buoyancy and stability in choppy conditions. Sleeveless variants work above 68°F or in non-wetsuit-legal races, offering better shoulder mobility but less lift.

Fit should feel like a second skin with no bagginess or restriction and full shoulder range of motion; women's geometry accounts for wider hips and narrower shoulders, so pay attention to the cut. If you're between sizes, size up for easier entry and look for adjustable lower leg lengths and stretchy ankle panels to aid quick exits.

Thinner 1.5mm shoulders prioritize flexibility, while 4–5mm torso and leg panels boost buoyancy. Those zones can add up to about 30% more lift and help keep you in an efficient body position, and models like the Kiwami Swift use 1.5–5mm zoned neoprene to balance agility and support.

Construction using Yamamoto or Airdome neoprene with glued-and-blind-stitched seams improves water resistance and durability. SCS coatings and friction-reducing neoprene like on Sailfish models reduce drag, and reinforced knees and lower back help the suit hold up to abrasion.

Quick-release zippers can shave 10–20 seconds in T1, and 2026 FINA-approved ratings indicate whether a suit meets the 5mm maximum for non-wetsuit races. Also consider performance details—positive forearm ribs, shark-scale side panels, or buoyancy tech in Zoot suits—that improve your catch and body position without slowing transitions.
