Red Roof Bars & Accessories

For heavy loads, choose aluminum aero or T-track bars built for all-weather use and multiple carriers. They accept T-track bolts rated for full bar length use and will handle roof boxes or several carriers when the bar length fits your load.

Match your vehicle's mounting points to the bar's feet and specific fit kit, since raised rails and factory fittings use different clamps. T-track channels and adapters vary by brand—some wider BMW bars need adapters—and Yakima-style wrap-around fittings are common for secure attachment.

If you need secure, weatherproof storage for gear on long trips, a cargo box is the better choice because it protects contents from rain and road spray. Baskets are more useful when hauling bulky or irregular items like tires, coolers, or grills, and many baskets have powder-coated finishes for corrosion resistance.

Overhang crossbars give a wider mounting surface ideal for kayaks, bikes, skis, and SUPs, so pair them with sport-specific carriers designed for those loads. Rhino-Rack overhang crossbars are a common option for wide loads, and many carriers use universal wrap or claw fittings to simplify attachment.

The Thule Caprock platform is rated up to 330 lbs, making it suitable for heavy overlanding accessories like jerry cans, recovery gear, and rooftop tents. Always check your vehicle roof load rating and distribute weight evenly across the platform for safe use.
