Black Rear Suspension Parts & Accessories

Leaf springs with solid axles are best for trucks and heavy loads because they offer high weight support and are built as 4–5 layer steel leaf packs. Coil springs or IRS give a smoother ride and better handling on uneven roads for lighter vehicles, so match the system to your vehicle use and payload.

Expect to replace shocks every 90,000 to 150,000 km depending on conditions; look for increased bounce, leaking fluid, or poor control on bumpy surfaces. Replacing worn dampers restores ride control and works well with refreshed springs or bushings.

Adjustable coilovers let you tune ride height and damping, and models like Aldan American offer rebound and compression adjustments to dial in handling. They’re a good choice if you want to customize cornering balance and longevity compared with fixed shocks.

Check axle width and wheelbase because arm lengths directly affect wheelbase control and tracking; longer or shorter arms change how the axle moves under load. Track bars and trailing arms keep side‑to‑side control, and rubber bushings help damp vibration while allowing compliance during jounce and rebound.

Steel leaf packs of 4–5 layers are designed for heavy-duty support but can sag or crack under extreme stress, so inspect shackles and bolts regularly. For increased capacity and off‑road accessories, consider heavy‑load setups like ARB additions that reinforce the rear-end system.
