Black Mountain Bike 27.5in Forks

For XC you’ll want about 80–120mm of travel for efficient pedaling, trail bikes typically use 120–150mm, and enduro forks sit around 150–190mm to absorb big hits. Think about the terrain you ride most, since longer travel slackens the head tube angle and raises the bottom bracket.

Check your frame’s head tube angle and axle-to-crown measurement to confirm compatibility before buying. Also verify the steerer diameter—modern forks are usually 1.125 or 1.5 inches—and that the fork’s offset (commonly 38–51mm for 27.5 wheels) suits your handling preferences.

If you need extra stiffness for rough lines, aim for thicker stanchions in the 35–38mm range found on many trail and enduro forks. Lightweight XC forks use aluminum or carbon and often weigh under 1,500 grams, while high-end enduro options can be around 2,345 grams.

Quality damping makes a big difference, so look for adjustable compression and rebound to tune how the fork responds to hits and returns. Sealed cartridge dampers extend service life in dirty conditions, and many premium models from FOX or RockShox include remote lockout and tool-free adjustments.

Yes—e-bike specific forks are engineered to handle added weight and the motor’s power delivery, and they’re often in the 150–190mm travel range. Consider heavier-duty offerings from brands like RockShox, Marzocchi, or Manitou that use beefier construction and damping to manage aggressive rider input.
