Infant Purple Winter Boots

For slushy conditions, waterproof pac-style boots or rubber/neoprene pull-ons are your best bet because they keep little feet dry during quick outings. Look for 100% waterproof rubber or neoprene uppers with seam-sealed construction and a waterproof rating up to 5,000mm; Bogs pull-ons are a good example for puddle-prone play.

Sizing generally runs true to age (0–24 months), but consider going a half-size up if you plan to use thick socks or layer over a bunting. Many styles include pull-on tabs and adjustable cuffs to preserve fit and prevent heel slip while still allowing extra room.

Some traction-focused kids' boots are built for icy sidewalks, featuring 1/4-inch slip-resistant rubber lugs and ASTM F1677 slip-rated outsoles for better grip. Kamik Snowbug, for example, offers superior lugs and higher traction coefficients that make short outdoor treks safer.

Puffy boots work best for dry, stationary play because higher insulation like 200–400g Thinsulate or elevated warmth indexes (around an 8,000 BTU equivalent) traps heat while the child is still. Jan and Jul Puffy styles excel at lightweight layering over bunting, keeping little ones warm without heavy soles.

Many infant styles include machine-washable linings and odor-resistant treatments so you can refresh liners after muddy or wet adventures. Wipe down 100% waterproof rubber uppers, let shells air dry, and rely on seam-sealed construction and reinforced toes to hold up through repeated wet-dry cycles.
