Infant Blue Rain & Wind Jackets

For quick toddler puddle play, a nonbreathable PU-coated slicker gives basic protection without bulk, while water-resistant raincoats and wind shells are fine for light rain and windy walks. For longer hikes or stormy weather opt for waterproof/breathable gear with features like DryVent 2L or a 10K waterproof rating and fully sealed seams.

A relaxed geometry that leaves room for a sweater or fleece works best so kids can move freely; sizes typically range from 12M up through Big Kid to allow growth. Pay attention to adjustable hoods and elastic or adjustable cuffs to keep rain out while still fitting over layers.

Fleece-lined options like the Columbia Rain-Zilla II are ideal for daily commutes because the fleece provides warmth and wicking without adding heavy bulk. Look for machine-washable designs with reflective details for easy care and added visibility on gray days.

Higher ratings such as a 10K waterproof rating make a noticeable difference on longer hikes and in heavier storms since they’re often paired with breathable membranes and fully sealed seams. For short walks or light showers, a water-resistant shell or slicker is usually sufficient and helps avoid overheating.

Many infant rain jackets are machine-washable and built to withstand routine cleaning, but over time you may notice DWR performance decrease; PFAS-free DWR treatments can be refreshed when beading lessens. Also take care with items that have PU coatings or fully sealed seams to follow the garment’s care label so waterproofing and seam tape remain effective.
