Infant Orange Insulated Jackets

Down jackets perform best in dry, cold conditions and can provide substantial warmth with 600–800 fill power and designs rated for temps down to around -10°F. They’re lightweight and compressible, so a down puffer with a packable hood is a great option for static outdoor play or travel.

If your little one will be active or exposed to wet snow, synthetic fills like Primaloft, ThermoBall, or 3–5 oz Heatseeker-style insulation hold loft when damp and dry faster than down. The North Face ThermoBall and REI Co-op Heatseeker are good examples of synthetics that balance warmth with wet-weather performance.

Most infant insulated jackets run true to age (0–24 months) and use roomy cuts, raglan sleeves, and shorter torsos so you can layer over onesies or diapers without restricting movement. Check for adjustable hems, grow cuffs for a 6-month extension, and smooth linings to avoid bunching in car seats or carriers.

Yes, many puffers are designed to pack small — down options compress especially well — and features like packable hoods and reversible construction make them travel-friendly. Flurry styles made from Sherpa or velour are lighter and work well for quick indoor-outdoor changes without taking up much suitcase space; Patagonia Micro Puff is an example of a synthetic puffer built for easy packing.

Outer shells in recycled nylon or polyester with a DWR finish give basic water resistance, while hard shells with 10K+ mm waterproof ratings and 5K–10K g/m² breathability stand up to heavier moisture. Look for PFAS-free DWR, ripstop or abrasion-resistant panels, and certifications like bluesign or OEKO-TEX for safer fabrics next to baby’s skin.
