Blue Grip & Forearm Trainers

Hand grippers are a solid, general-purpose choice for overall squeeze strength, while thick grip attachments add challenge to barbell and dumbbell work by increasing shaft diameter to about one to two inches. For rotational and forearm-focused work, the Theraband FlexBar targets twist and pronation movements rather than simple closing strength.

Finger-specific trainers like pinch grippers and the IronMind TUG isolate individual digits and often come in progressive resistance tiers, including up to seven resistance levels for fine-tuned rehab. These tools let you rebuild load capacity per digit while avoiding the one-size squeeze of a standard gripper.

Measure your bar or dumbbell shaft and choose thick grips designed to fit common diameters—most compatible options accommodate shafts around one to two inches in diameter. Affordable accessories like Fat Gripz slip over standard bars and use high-density foam or silicone overlays to create that larger grip feel.

High-quality grippers typically use steel springs with handles molded from durable plastic or rubber compounds, while premium models employ aerospace-grade materials and precision engineering for long life. Wrist curlers often combine metal bases with protective coatings to resist wear, whereas budget options may use lower-grade springs that lose tension faster.

Start with an adjustable model such as the WOD Nation Hand Grip Strengthener or a series-based system like IronMind Captains of Crush and move up through the numbered resistance tiers as closing force improves. Many adjustable grippers change resistance through the motion, and stepping up gradually prevents overuse while tracking measurable pound-force gains.
