"Ski The Day" Athlete Q&A
Go behind the scenes with Parkin Costain, Toby Miller and Ana Eyssimont
This fall marks the release of the latest winter hype film from Backcountry. "Ski The Day" encapsulates the spirit of riding every day as if it’s the last, whenever there's time to make it to the mountain. Shot on-location all over Backcountry’s home state of Utah, the film captures every form of skiing—whether the crew is ticking hits off the trick list in the park or nailing ski mountaineering objectives, they’re adapting to the conditions. To really make the most of the calendar year, the crew also hit an all-time heli day down under in Wanaka, New Zealand. Read along to see the athlete list, see if the film is touring in your city, and discover exclusive interviews with Backcountry athletes Toby Miller, Parkin Costain, and Ana Eyssimont.

Meet Our Backcountry Athletes
Gearhead® Expert Kendall sat down with athletes Parkin Costain, Toby Miller, and Ana Eyssimont to see what makes these ripping skiers and (and talented snowboarder) tick. Follow along to learn about their trajectories and how they keep up with their wild schedules as professional athletes.

Q&A With Parkin Costain
Parkin Costain has been ripping heli lines in Alaska, throwing huge tricks in Corbet's Couloir, and tearing up ski resorts around the world for the better part of ten years now. He’s evolved his powerful skiing style over the seasons and picked up a skillset in the high alpine, looking towards technical terrain at every opportunity. If you’re out in the mountains with Parkin and lose track of him, just look for the nearest rocky highpoint—he’s probably climbed on top of it. Parkin has repped the Goat for three seasons now, and he’s even been featured in a mountain bike focused Backcountry short film, Building A Legacy.

Q&A With Toby Miller
Toby Miller began his professional snowboarding career as an exceptionally young phenom in the halfpipe. He caught the attention of another halfpipe rider you might have heard of—Shaun White and Louie Vito—and with the help of his mentors, quickly built momentum in the competition circuit. After a shoulder injury shook his reality, he decided to step away from the pipe and look to big-mountain riding, which served as the perfect time to become a Backcountry athlete.

Q&A With Ana Eyssimont
Ana Eyssimont’s path to becoming a pro skier is essentially the polar opposite of the stereotypical ski racer turned freestyler who breaks into the film scene. After competing in gymnastics throughout her upbringing, she learned to ski while attending the University of Colorado Boulder and instantly translated her air awareness to freestyle skiing. Just two years into her professional career, she’s accomplished so much and has a clear path to progression in mind. Ana is the newest member of the Backcountry athlete team, and we’re stoked to see what she does in 2026.
