Selle Italia

Frequently Asked Questions

• Which Selle Italia saddle profile is best for my riding discipline and position?

Choose a profile by matching your sit-bone width and riding posture: the SLR family (including SLR Boost Tekno and SLR 3D) is tailored to aggressive road racers who want a short/Boost length and ultra-light construction, while Flite and Novus offer classic performance shapes with more tuning options for endurance riders. For long off‑road or gravel days pick a model with progressive padding and a flexing shell; e‑bike and sportouring lines prioritize comfort and vibration damping. Always pair width (e.g., 130mm vs 145mm) and length (standard vs Boost) to your anatomy and riding position.
• Which Selle Italia saddles are best for triathlon and time‑trial positions?

The Watt series is purpose-built for triathlon and TT use, featuring an aerodynamic profile, anti‑slip inserts to stabilize your aero position, and firmer padding to aid power transfer. Pair a Watt saddle with a shorter Boost length if you ride in a very forward, aggressive position; the stiffer shell and secure cover help maintain consistent contact during long efforts.
• How should I size a Selle Italia saddle to avoid numbness and saddle pain?

Measure your sit‑bone width and add the manufacturer’s recommended clearance—select narrower widths (around 130mm) for very narrow sit bones and high hip rotation, and 145mm or wider if you need broader support; consider Boost (shorter) lengths when you ride in a forward, aero position. Look for Superflow cutouts or 3D‑printed zones to relieve perineal pressure, and choose shells and rails (TI 316 vs carbon) that offer the right balance of flex and damping for your weight and terrain. If possible, test a saddle on a long ride to confirm fit before committing.
