Rugged and trail-ready, the Wasatch Ripstop Trail Short delivers durable comfort for all-day adventures

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I reach for these when I want a little more coverage but still want mobility. They’re comfortable against the skin, stretch well on climbs, and feel durable enough for rough trails. The pockets are practical, and the fabric doesn’t feel heavy even after hours outside."

We built the Wasatch Ripstop Trail Short for longer days where comfort, durability, and function matter equally. From winding trails to exploratory hikes, these shorts are made to handle varied terrain without slowing us down. The recycled stretch ripstop fabric offers a balance of toughness and flexibility, while a soft stretch-knit waistband sits comfortably through steady movement and long hours outside. Zippered hand pockets secure small essentials, and a locker loop adds easy carry options for keys or a chalk bag. Finished with a water-resistant treatment, these shorts are ready for changing conditions and extended time on the trail.

Stretch Ripstop Fabric

Built to move and built to last, the Wasatch Ripstop blend solves the trade-off between tough and comfortable so these bottoms keep up without slowing you down.

Water-Resistant Finish

The DWR finish sheds moisture so the fabric stays dry when conditions shift. It's also PFC-free, meaning the protection comes without the harmful chemicals typically found in older water-resistant treatments.

Built Responsibly

Every Wasatch Ripstop style uses 61% recycled nylon and carries OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification, independently tested against more than 100 harmful substances so the gear is as safe to wear as it is to make.

Thoughtful Details

The built-in locker loop earns its place on every adventure, whether hanging at camp, clipping to a pack, or airing out after a wet day on the trail.

Zippered Thigh Pocket

About The Backcountry Brand

Backcountry began in 1996 with two skiers, a stack of avalanche beacons, and a garage in Park City, Utah. Our roots were humble, and we've grown since then, but our vision is still clear: to sell the best outdoor gear—and to create gear that’s even better through our very own gear and apparel brand.
