Long road rides have a way of stretching across every kind of condition — scorching climbs, fast descents, and the kind of fading afternoon light that turns a simple ride into something more demanding. The Smith Trace MIPS Helmet is built to handle all of it without asking the rider to think twice about the helmet on their head.
Smith built the Trace around full Koroyd protection that surrounds the entire helmet structure, using co-polymer welded tube technology to absorb and disperse impact energy across the whole shell rather than relying on isolated zones of foam. MIPS adds a slip-plane layer that reduces rotational forces during angled impacts for a complete protection picture. Eighteen strategically placed vents create a dedicated intake and exhaust system that channels cool air across the scalp and pushes heat out through the rear — keeping the head temperature regulated on hard efforts and sustained climbs. The AirEvac system keeps sunglasses fog-free during descents when temperature differentials cause condensation to build, and integrated channels in the helmet secure glasses neatly when the light drops and they need to come off. The VaporFit retention system dials in a secure, adjustable fit that holds through long days and varied road conditions.
