Crane Mips Helmet

MIPS, or Multi-directional Impact Protection System, is a safety technology designed to reduce the rotational forces that can occur during angled impacts. It features a low-friction layer inside the helmet that allows the outer shell to move slightly upon impact. EPS, or Expanded Polystyrene, is a lightweight foam material used in helmets for its excellent shock-absorbing properties. Helmets made with dual-density EPS utilize two types of foam to provide enhanced protection by effectively absorbing impacts. This means that in the event of a fall or collision, the helmet can better protect your head from injury.

Ventilation refers to the design features that allow air to flow through the helmet, keeping you cool during rides. Helmets with fixed vents have strategically placed openings that maximize airflow without the need for adjustments. Certifications such as EN 1078, CPSC, and AS/NZ 2063 are safety standards that helmets must meet to be considered safe for use. EN 1078 is a European standard for bicycle helmets, CPSC is a U.S. standard for helmets for individuals aged 5 and older, and AS/NZ 2063 is an Australian/New Zealand standard. Helmets that meet these certifications have undergone rigorous testing to ensure they provide adequate protection during cycling activities.

To find the right helmet size, measure the circumference of your head just above your eyebrows and refer to the manufacturer's sizing chart. Many helmets also come with a fit adjustment system, allowing you to fine-tune the fit for maximum comfort and safety. A properly sized helmet should feel snug but not overly tight, and it should sit level on your head without tilting forward or backward.
