PEARL iZUMi designed the Expedition around the demands of gravel grinding and cross-country riding, where pedaling efficiency and walkable comfort both matter. The perforated synthetic leather upper keeps airflow moving across the foot during sustained efforts, and soft TX lace guides reduce hotspots so pressure stays even mile after mile. The BOA® L6E reel paired with a hook-and-loop strap lets riders dial in fit across two adjustment points for a secure, customized feel. Underfoot, the 1:1 Next Step Nylon composite sole balances stiffness for power transfer with enough compliance to walk comfortably between sections, while the EVA heel insert adds vibration damping and stability when feet hit the ground.
