The Patagonia RPS Rock Pants are built for exactly that kind of day, where every ounce counts and the pants need to perform from the first switchback to the final rappel without ever becoming a distraction. At just under 12 oz, they are Patagonia's lightest synthetic climbing pants, built from a 4.4-oz NetPlus recycled nylon and spandex plain weave made from post-consumer fishing nets. The fabric is tough, breathable, and treated with a PFAS-free DWR finish that handles light moisture and the inevitable brush against wet rock without soaking through.

Every construction detail is oriented around movement and harness compatibility. An articulated pattern, darted knees, and a gusseted crotch give the pants a natural range of motion that never fights back on high steps, heel hooks, or awkward rests on small ledges. The OppoSet adjustable waistband and zip fly create a low-bulk fit that sits cleanly under a harness hipbelt, and lie-flat front pockets with breathable mesh bags eliminate pressure points on long pitches. Two reinforced rear top-entry pockets add seat durability where the rock hits hardest, while a right thigh security zip pocket positioned above the knee and below the harness leg loops keeps small essentials accessible without getting in the way. Shock cord cuffs at the ankles dial in the fit over approach shoes or rock shoes, depending on the moment, and the whole package is Fair Trade Certified, sewn from bluesign-approved materials.
