By blending RWS-certified merino wool with nylon and a touch of spandex, it delivers the best qualities of both in a single form-fitting layer that works from the skin track to the summit and back again.

Mammut wove 39% merino wool through the Trift for its natural temperature regulation, odor resistance, and soft next-to-skin feel that holds up through multi-day trips without becoming uncomfortable between washes. The 59% nylon construction wraps that merino in a framework that dries faster, resists abrasion more effectively, and handles the sustained moisture output that high-output winter activities generate. Two percent spandex rounds out the blend with the stretch needed for a form-fitting silhouette that mirrors body movement without restriction across skiing, running, hiking, and training. At 4.9 ounces and 26 inches center back length, the Trift layers cleanly under any mid or shell without bunching, and the Responsible Wool Standard certification ensures the merino inside was sourced with animal welfare as a priority from the start.
