A: Mounting is the process of drilling your skis, fixing your bindings to them, and setting them up to release properly for you. Our certified Gearhead® Experts calculate your release (DIN) value from the details you provide, mount the bindings to manufacturer spec, apply the required release-indicator sticker, and set everything up before it ships so your skis arrive ready to click into and ride.

A: Ski mounting is $60.

A: Yes, we can ship just about anywhere in the world. Shipping costs vary depending on the product and volume. You can review our international shipping FAQ for more details.

A: Add the “Ski Mounting” product to your cart along with your skis and bindings, then check out as usual.

A: Once your order is in, we’ll email you a short form and a liability waiver to complete. This is where you give us the skier details we need to set your bindings correctly and sign off on the mount. As soon as we have your completed form and waiver, your skis head to the bench.

A: You have 72 hours from your order to submit the form and signed waiver. Get it back to us in that window and we’ll get your skis into the mounting queue. Miss the window and your skis ship unmounted so we don’t hold up your order.

A: If the 72-hour window passes without your completed form and waiver, we release your order and ship your skis unmounted, and we’ll refund the $60 mounting cost. If you missed the window and still want your skis mounted, reach out to one of our Gearhead Experts and we’ll walk you through your next steps.

A: The form covers what we need to calculate your DIN and position your bindings: your boot sole length (BSL), printed on the heel of your boot, plus your height, weight, age, and skier ability level. You’ll also sign a liability waiver acknowledging the mount.

A: No. We’ll set everything from your boot sole length (BSL) plus your boot make and model. Just make sure your BSL is accurate, since the whole setup keys off it.

A: We mount bindings that appear on the current manufacturer indemnified list. If a binding is discontinued or no longer supported by its maker, we’re not able to mount it. That’s an industry safety standard, not a Backcountry call.

A: Not for online orders. Gear mounted through the site must be purchased from our catalog. If you’ve got gear from elsewhere, you’re welcome to bring it into one of our retail locations and request the service there.

A: Our Gearheads calculates it from the info on your form and sets the binding accordingly. We finish by applying the manufacturer’s release-indicator sticker.

A: Turnaround depends on when you complete your form and the current mounting queue, but we strive to mount your skis within 72 hours of receiving your completed form.

A: Yes. Mounted skis can be returned, though a 25% restocking fee applies since the skis have been drilled. Please double-check your ski length, binding choice, and boot details before you order to avoid returns.

A: Every mount is completed by a certified Gearehad technician to manufacturer spec and set to your specs before it ships.
