The GRIP SL damper is the heart of what makes this fork feel exceptional rather than merely light. Its short-travel-specific tuning delivers a suppleness on repeated small hits and technical chatter that has historically been the tradeoff for going ultralight, and FOX has closed that gap significantly here. The arch design wraps around the lowers to increase torsional stiffness by 17% over the 34 Step-Cast, meaning the front end stays composed and precise when the trail pitches steep or the exit of a berm requires real commitment. A generatively designed 7000 series aluminum crown, machined with external geometry and enlarged internal bores, shaves every unnecessary gram without touching structural integrity.
