What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I built up a trail wheel around the Chris King Boost 6-Bolt Rear Hub two seasons ago, and it has been through more mud, roots, and abuse than I care to admit. The engagement is instantaneous every time I come out of a corner and load the pedals, and the bearings have only gotten smoother with mileage, which is exactly what Chris King promised and exactly what I experienced."
There are components you replace and components you build around. The Chris King Boost 6-Bolt Rear Hub is the latter. Engineered, machined, and assembled entirely in Portland, Oregon, this hub represents what happens when a manufacturer refuses to cut corners over nearly five decades of doing it right. Every watt you put into the pedals travels through a one-piece solid axle designed to keep your suspension tracking cleanly and your power moving forward rather than flexing away into dead compliance.
The patented RingDrive system delivers 72 simultaneous points of engagement, which means the moment you load the pedals out of a corner or surge over a crest, the hub is already driving. That characteristic Chris King sound is not incidental; it is the audible signature of a system working exactly as intended. The bearings, available in steel or ceramic, are made in-house with heat-treated surgical-grade steel races machined simultaneously to ensure perfectly matched tolerances. They are built to burnish faster and run smoother over time, and they are fully serviceable for years of hard trail use with nothing more than a T10 and a pick. The canted flanges add lateral stiffness to every wheel build, and heavy-duty seals plus a threaded driveshell seal ring keep mud and water out of the places they have no business being.
