For close-up campsite tasks, 100–200 lumens is usually enough, while trail navigation benefits from 300–1,000 lumens for clearer sight at night. Models like the NU20 Classic and Swift RL balance brightness with battery efficiency, offering runtimes from about 5 to 50 hours depending on mode.

Look for GPS accuracy in the 3–10 meter range and a battery that matches your trip length—many GPS watches last 5 to 14 days in smartwatch mode. Barometric altimeters and offline mapping make a big difference for elevation tracking and route finding on long hikes.

Make sure the mount is compatible with your helmet attachment system and built to handle rugged use and wet conditions; GoPro helmet cameras are rated to 10 meters waterproof and work with many third‑party mounts. Peak Design’s modular mounts use quick‑release points and lightweight construction, so pick a mount with secure clamps or adhesive bases that match your helmet or pack.

For single days, a 10,000 mAh pack will usually cover a phone and headlamp top‑ups, but multi‑day outings often benefit from 20,000–26,000 mAh to recharge multiple devices and cameras. Also prioritize rugged, sealed housings to keep the battery safe from moisture and temperature swings.

Solar panels in the 5–30 watt range can keep devices topped off, though real‑world conversion is around 15–22 percent so charging speed depends on sun and panel size. Pairing a solar charger with a 10,000–26,000 mAh portable battery gives more consistent power across cloudy days and long trips.
