Women's Beige Baselayer Bottoms

Think about the activity and expected temps: lightweight tights suit aerobic cool-to-mild days, midweight merino works well for skiing and cold starts with a warmth rating like 9/10, and heavyweight thermal Capilene is best for frigid winter sports. If you need extra insulation, look for merino 250 or thermal Capilene when layering for alpine ascents.

Merino is excellent for odor resistance and next-to-skin comfort—100% merino wool naturally wicks and stays softer over long wear. Synthetics like Capilene (with 92% recycled polyester) dry faster and handle start-stop activities better when quick drying matters.

Look for flatlock seams, articulated knees, and a gusseted crotch to reduce irritation and allow full range of motion during dynamic movement. A slim, next-to-skin geometry minimizes bunching under shells while a regular fit gives more room for layering on long tours.

Waffle-knit and Nuyarn constructions handle high moisture well thanks to superior breathability; the Lé Bent Sentinel waffle-knit is noted for excellent breathability and strong warmth. Those styles move moisture away efficiently, so they’re a smart choice for wet, high-output winter pursuits.

Yes, many styles are offered from XS to 4X, and models like the Smartwool Classic Thermal Merino are available across that range. Pay attention to a brand’s geometry—slim versus regular—because the same size can feel more next-to-skin or more relaxed depending on cut.
