Blue Telemark Skis

Think about where you’ll spend most of your days and how you like to ski. Freeride skis handle mixed resort and off‑piste runs while backcountry models prioritize uphill weight savings for touring; for deep snow look for waists over 105 mm and rockered tips, with models like Bishop Powderhound or Voile Telemark built for flotation.

Shorter skis give more agility while longer skis add stability, so match length to your height, weight, and preferred turn speed. Also consider construction and minimum weights — skis shouldn’t be under about 1500 grams per ski if you want a balanced touring and downhill feel.

NTN and 75mm beak bindings serve different needs: 75mm classic bindings with a beak give the traditional telemark flex, while NTN bindings lack the beak and often work better with alpine‑touring style setups. Think about whether you prioritize classic telemark technique or compatibility with modern touring hardware.

Width, camber, and rocker directly change float and edge grip; powder skis typically have waists over 105 mm and rockered tips for flotation, whereas groomer‑oriented or racing skis are narrower (under about 90 mm) with camber and tighter sidecut for carving. Match those geometry traits to the snow and terrain you ski most often.

Yes, lightweight touring designs use woods or composite cores to save grams while retaining enough stiffness for descents, and many allround models balance uphill and downhill performance. Look at Åsnes allround touring options or similar skis with durable cap or sandwich sidewalls and stay near the 1500‑gram per ski threshold for reliable stability.
