White Stand-Up Paddleboards

Hard epoxy boards built over EPS foam with fiberglass or carbon offer performance and responsiveness, while soft tops with EVA decks like ISLE models add impact resistance for families and dogs. Inflatables use high-density PVC with drop-stitch construction and can be pumped to 15–25 PSI for near hard-board rigidity and easy storage.

Wider boards in the 32–34+ inch range give the stability a 200 lb beginner needs, and a medium 10–12' all-around board balances tracking with maneuverability. Aim for higher volume—around 250–300 liters—to ensure flotation and a comfortable weight capacity.

Displacement touring and racing hulls with pointed noses are designed to slice through water and hold speed over long distances, and longer lengths (12'+) favor efficiency. Models like Starboard inflatables are tuned for touring and can be inflated to about 20 PSI for extra stiffness on long outings.

Fishing SUPs prioritize a wide, stable planing platform plus integrated storage like coolers, tackle mounts, and rod holders to keep gear secure. Hybrids often include removable kayak seats and higher volumes that support 200–400+ lbs for comfortable standing and casting.

Inflatables with drop-stitch construction can approach hard-board rigidity when inflated to 15–25 PSI, but hard epoxy/fiberglass boards still tend to be lighter and more performance-oriented. For touring-level stiffness many manufacturers, including Red Paddle Co., recommend near 20 PSI to keep the board firm on flatwater.
