Rubber mats offer the largest surface area and the most popular, flexible option, foam pads give extra cushioning, studs deliver aggressive grip, and hard PVC or metal pieces provide rugged traction. Think about the riding you do most and the balance between grip, flexibility, and durability when choosing.

Place the pad just behind the rear binding so your back foot sits naturally when popping out of the binding; that position also keeps it clear of turn and spin arcs. Flexible rubber pads are useful because they conform to board flex and reduce interference during tricks.
