Red Snowboard Protective Gear

A helmet that lists MIPS plus a recognized standard like CE EN1077 Class A or ASTM F2040 gives both rotational and certified impact protection. Models such as the Ruroc RG2 (with Rheon) or Sweet Protection Daymaker pair MIPS with lightweight in-mold construction suited for park jumps and high-speed runs.

Snug, non-restrictive fit comes from adjustable straps and Velcro on guards plus ergonomic shaping like pre-curved knees to avoid bunching. Back protector sizing should match torso length while shorts use inseam measurements, and gloves use hand circumference for a precise fit.

For beginners focusing on falls you’ll want hip pads or impact shorts and padded butt pads to protect the tailbone and thighs, often with 10–20mm padding thickness. Terrain-park riders should add wrist guards, knee and elbow pads or multi-layer integrated tops for repeated tumbles and tricks.

D3O and Rheon both use impact-activated materials that stiffen on strike, but you may notice D3O feels denser while Rheon is often tuned for a lower-profile fit. Both are used in spine guards and helmets, and MIPS or Rheon tech can reduce rotational forces by up to 40%; the Demon Flexforce X V6, for example, uses Level 1 D3O spine protection for aggressive jumps.

Most padded gear has removable liners for washing and puncture-resistant exteriors built with in-mold or two-shell construction for long-term durability. Expect Lycra and mesh comfort layers to wick moisture and reinforced nylon or polyester shells on crash pants and shorts to hold up through repeated falls.
