Gray Snowboard Packs

Resort soft bags work well for transport and casual days, while technical backpacks are built for backcountry terrain and gear. Soft, packable designs at 10–15 liters carry layers and snacks, whereas backcountry packs typically range 18–35L and may include frames, compression straps, or avalanche airbag systems.

For a single resort day, a lightweight 10–15L pack usually holds an extra layer, water, and snacks without feeling bulky. If you want more organization or a few extra pockets for tools, consider slightly larger models like the Burton AK Dispatcher 18L.

Splitboard packs should offer both vertical and horizontal carry options plus space for climbing skins, boots, and bindings to make transitions easier. Compression straps and external zippered pockets help secure your board and keep essentials accessible on skintracks.

A firm hip belt and an adjustable sternum strap make extended outings far more comfortable by transferring weight to your hips. Packs with spring-steel or aluminum perimeter frames or vertical stays and a thermoformed foam back panel improve load stability and reduce snow buildup.

Airbag systems such as the Black Diamond Jetforce Pro 25L or Ortovox Freerider 22L add noticeable weight and are battery-powered, but they provide an important safety benefit in avalanche terrain. Insulated hydration bladders and magnetic bite-valve attachments add a bit of bulk but help prevent frozen hoses and keep fluids accessible.
