Green Ski Bags

Think about how you travel and how many pairs you need to haul. Wheeled double roller bags and hard cases are best for airport and road trips where protection and multi-pair capacity matter, while soft padded single or multi-ski bags work well for car trips, storage, or resort-to-backcountry days.

Measure your longest ski and add 10–20cm for padding and pole clearance to be safe. Double bags typically fit two pairs up to about 185cm plus poles, and most sizing covers the common 170–200cm range.

If you fly often, the extra weight can be worth it for maximum protection. Hard cases like the Series 3 use ABS or polycarbonate shells up to 1–2 inches thick and typically weigh 20–30 pounds empty, compared with soft rollers that usually run 8–15 pounds.

Look for ballistic nylon or 600D polyester with reinforced bottoms and reliable hardware like YKK zippers to resist tears and moisture. Reinforcements such as 1000D nylon panels and 1–2cm foam padding add impact protection without turning the bag into a hard case.

Consider removable boot bags, internal ski straps, pole pockets, and ID windows to keep gear organized and secure. Models like the Dakine Fall Line include a removable boot bag and pole pockets, and wheeled rollers with inline skate wheels can handle heavy, multi-pair loads.
