Purple Sewn Runners

Think about conditions and what you value most. Nylon sewn runners give a silky feel and slight stretch that helps absorb shock, while synthetics like Dynex and Dyneema save weight and take up far less water; Black Diamond's Dynex material is about 30 percent lighter than nylon.

Webbing width affects how a sling sits on protection and how much harness or anchor surface it contacts; common choices are 8mm, 10mm, and 11mm. Longer lengths help extend placements or build redundant anchors, and reinforced stitching patterns on many sewn runners improve load distribution.

Yes. Dynex and Dyneema absorb far less water than nylon and don’t freeze as easily, which makes them a smart pick for alpine and winter conditions. They also shave weight from your rack, improving mobility on long approaches and technical ice pitches.

Wider webbing generally lays flatter and feels more comfortable against your harness and hands on long climbs, while narrower widths are lighter and pack down smaller. Nylon's silky smooth texture is easy on skin during repeated use, whereas synthetic materials can feel a bit different but offer better wet-weather performance.

Quickdraw slings and express sewn runners are great when you want streamlined clipping and fewer parts on your draws; models like Finesse slings or integrated express slings simplify sport clipping. They work well for gym-to-crag sport laps where quick, light gear and tidy racking matter.
