Green Road Tires

Think about climate and driving style: all-season tires handle mixed weather and light snow for daily commuting, while summer tires give maximum grip and sharp handling but aren’t suited to freezing temperatures. Performance all-season and ultra-high-performance options trade some tread life for sharper response and higher speed ratings like H, V, W, or ZR.

For 4x4 pickups, SUVs, and lifted Jeeps you’ll commonly see 33-inch, 35-inch, and 37-inch all-terrain options that balance off-road capability with on-road comfort. If you tow, look into trailer-specific models like the Goodyear Endurance or Maxxis M8008 Plus designed for heavy loads and heat resistance.

Radial ply construction places cord plies perpendicular to the tread, which boosts fuel economy, shock absorption, and high-speed heat resistance compared with older diagonal designs. Some premium models, such as the Power King Towmax STR, pair radial construction with a five-rib circumferential tread and full-depth sipes to run cooler and extend tread life.

If you prioritize cornering precision and maximum street grip for a sports car, ultra-high-performance all-season tires with ZR, W, or Y ratings deliver that edge at the expense of tread life. Touring tires, on the other hand, favor highway comfort, reduced road noise, and longer treadwear warranties for drivers focused on smooth, long-distance driving.

Speed ratings (letters like S, H, V, or ZR) indicate the tire’s tested safe operating speed, while treadwear grades and traction/temperature markings reflect expected longevity and performance traits. Also check the load index if you carry heavy loads, since that number specifies the tire’s weight capacity.
