Gray Mountain Bike Dropper Seatposts

Match travel to your riding: shorter travel (60–125mm) keeps weight low for XC and smoother trails, while longer travel (150–200mm) helps on steep, technical descents. Models like the OneUp V2 offer 140–200mm for aggressive enduro, while 100–125mm posts suit most trail riders.

Check your frame's stamped seatpost diameter — common sizes are 27.2mm, 30.9mm, 31.6mm and 34.9mm — and match the post to that number. Also measure from the collar to your saddle rails in the highest position and subtract about 50mm of travel to ensure the post won't push your saddle too high.

Internal (stealth) routing gives a cleaner look and better protection for the cable but can be trickier to install and service. External routing makes maintenance and swaps easier, and coil-spring designs like the PNW Loam with tool-free rebuilds simplify servicing even further.

Make sure the post’s insertion length and total extended length let you pedal with knees slightly bent at full extension by comparing the post’s extended length to your current saddle height. Account for stack height (head and collar) and minimum insertion depth listed by the manufacturer so the post clears your frame while still offering the advertised travel.

For aggressive enduro and big travel, look at posts offering 140–200mm like the OneUp V2 in 31.6mm, which provides a long drop for steep descents. The Fox Transfer Factory is another solid choice with 100–175mm travel and a Kashima coating for low friction under heavy use.
