Men's Purple Ski & Snowboard Jackets

Think about the conditions and exertion level: hardshells with Gore-Tex or 3‑layer laminates and DWR-treated faces are best for wet, stormy days, while softshells prioritize breathability for uphill touring or spring riding. 3-in-1 systems separate into an outer shell and inner insulated layer for modular use, and insulated jackets like the Helly Hansen Alpha LifaLoft give synthetic warmth on cold resort days.

For heavy precipitation aim for waterproof ratings in the 15,000mm to 20,000mm+ range and breathability around 15,000 g/24hr/m² or higher to manage sweat. Also check for fully taped seams, waterproof zips, and membranes such as Gore-Tex paired with a DWR-treated polyester face for reliable wet-weather protection.

Measure chest circumference, jacket and sleeve length, and bottom hem to make sure you have room for a midlayer without excess bulk. Choose a relaxed or regular fit with articulated elbows and a longer hemline so you can swing your arms, tuck a midlayer under, and avoid restriction.

Synthetic insulation retains warmth when wet and is a smart choice for mixed or damp conditions, while down offers superior warmth-to-weight in dry cold settings. Models like The North Face Thermoball ECO Snow Triclimate use eco-friendly synthetic fill and integrate well in 3-in-1 systems for versatile warmth.

Look for practical resort features like powder skirts, a ski-pass sleeve with a goggle wipe, wrist gaiters with thumb loops, and pit zips for heat dumping to manage changing conditions on the mountain. Additional details such as RECCO reflectors, a 2-3 way adjustable hood for helmet compatibility, fully taped seams, and reinforced cuffs are helpful; Quiksilver models often highlight snow skirts and attachment systems for resort use.
