Men's Green Ski Jackets

Think about your typical conditions and activity level: hardshells give waterproof protection for stormy days while softshells breathe better during high-output laps. Insulated jackets (60–120 gsm down or synthetic) are best for cold resort days, and 3-in-1s add versatility when temperatures and intensity change.

Aim for an athletic or regular fit with enough room for a midlayer and mobility, and check sizes from S to XXL to match your layering needs. Articulated sleeves, a longer hem for powder coverage, and a helmet-compatible hood help maintain comfort when wearing a pack.

Hardshell membranes like 80D 3L ePE Gore-Tex or AscentShell are designed for heavy precipitation and typically offer 20,000–28,000 mm waterproofing, which makes them worth it in serious storms. Durable constructions with taped seams and stretch 3L panels also resist freeride abuse while keeping you dry.

Prioritize breathability, lightweight construction, and ventilation—backcountry models focus on that balance and often weigh around 1.9 lbs for a shell. Jackets with pit zips, packable designs, and safety features like RECCO reflectors work well; the Outdoor Research Skytour AscentShell is an example built for uphill efficiency.

A 3-in-1 makes sense if you want one jacket that adapts to variable days—spring skiing or mixed tours—by combining a waterproof shell with a removable insulated liner. Models like the Patagonia Insulated Storm Shift give the convenience of a 60–120 gsm insulated liner plus a shell, so you can shed or add layers as temperatures change.
