Men's Red Run & Training Pants

Consider your intensity and the weather: compressive tights give performance support for faster runs while relaxed joggers let you move freely for warmups or gym sessions. Models like the New Balance RC Pocket Tight (28-inch inseam) offer a close, race-oriented fit, whereas the Brooks Luxe Jogger provides a plush, relaxed option.

For cold, windy, or rainy conditions, look to purpose-built pieces—windproof options like the Patagonia Wind Shield block roughly 20–30 mph gusts while rain pants such as the Outdoor Research Helium shed water on wet runs. Superwarm pieces like the Bandit Superwarm or thermal tights add insulation for sub-freezing outings without too much bulk.

If you want a performance fit, go for compressive tights with articulated knees to preserve stride freedom; relaxed joggers suit cross-training and recovery runs. Also consider drop-in pockets and an elastic waist for secure, nonrestrictive wear, and note that tapered legs help prevent snagging on trail sections.

Synthetics like polyester and nylon blends wick moisture and dry quickly, while wool blends add natural insulation when temps dip. Durable constructions found in pieces such as the Ten Thousand Interval Pant hold up to high-mileage training, and you can also find lightweight designs under 10 ounces for faster sessions.

Hybrid and trail pants make sense when your route mixes pavement, dirt, and changing weather; the REI Swiftland Hybrid is tuned for that road-to-trail versatility. Look for features like gusseted crotches and zip pockets when you need extra range of motion and secure storage on rougher terrain.
