Men's Black Run & Training Baselayers

Merino wool long-sleeve options are your go-to for near-freezing and highly variable conditions because they regulate temperature and resist odor even when damp. The OEX Barneo bamboo-synthetic range is a good alternative for slightly milder cold or mixed-weather days when you want extra stretch and breathability.

For hot, high-effort sessions choose a seamless synthetic base layer made from polyester or polyamide since those fabrics dry quickly and handle heavy sweat well. Lightweight synthetics are often rated for conditions starting around 40 degrees Fahrenheit and minimize saturation during fast efforts.

A base layer should fit snugly like a second skin so moisture is pulled away from the body without restricting movement. Look for flat seams and features like thumb loops to reduce rubbing and bridge the gap to gloves on colder outings.

Compression tights work well for cold-weather training and post-run recovery because they support key muscle groups and add warmth on long runs. Compression is typically described as light, moderate, or high or measured in mmHg, so pick the level that matches your recovery or performance needs.

Yes—bamboo-synthetic blends offer stretchy, breathable performance that suits a wide range of intensities and temperatures, and the fiber’s natural anti-bacterial traits help with odor control. The OEX Barneo bamboo range is a good example of a versatile option that balances comfort and moisture management.
