Men's Brown Performance Jackets

Hardshell jackets are the go-to for sustained wet, windy alpine climbs and skiing. A 10,000–20,000mm hydrostatic head and sealed seams provide protection from driving rain and wind. Adjustable hoods and two-way zippers keep you mobile while layered.

For active mountain days, prioritize breathability when you expect sustained exertion. Fabrics with MVTR over 15,000 g/m2/24hrs or softshell blends with Spandex/Lycra, plus underarm vent zips, help shed moisture while still offering DWR wind resistance.

Insulated layers that minimize bulk and maximize ventilation work best for cold aerobic activities like ski touring. Lightweight synthetic fills or Polartec fleece in the 200–300gsm range deliver warmth without weight, and models like the Patagonia R1 Air use hollow-core weaves for exceptional breathability.

Look for an athletic or regular cut with articulated sleeves and a contoured torso to allow layering and full arm motion. Features such as thumb loops, adjustable hems, and two-way zippers help keep layers in place, and brands like The North Face shape geometry for a full range of motion while sizing tends to run true-to-size.

Yes—many performance shells use eco-minded materials and reinforced construction for durability. You’ll see bluesign-approved fabrics, PFAS-free DWR treatments, and membranes like Marmot MemBrain combined with quality stitching and reinforced areas to resist abrasion.
