Men's Brown Gloves & Mittens

Mittens deliver the most warmth for sub-zero tasks like shoveling, while gloves keep finger dexterity for skiing, climbing, or biking. Lobster or hybrid styles split the difference by pairing a shared pocket with finger access, and models like the Hestra Army Leather Heli Ski show how a removable wool liner adds warmth and versatility.

For below-freezing days, aim for heavier insulation in the 200–300g range of PrimaLoft or Thinsulate for sustained cold, while 100g works better for high-output skiing. Waterproof-breathable membranes such as Gore-Tex (as found on the Black Diamond Dirigo with 100g insulation) help keep hands dry while the insulation weight controls warmth.

Sizing typically runs S–XXL and many people size a half size up when planning to add liners or thicker layers. Gauntlet cuffs give over-jacket coverage with cinches to keep snow out, whereas slim or regular cuffs fit under jacket sleeves for more active sports.

Liners in wool or fleece are great for high-output efforts because they wick moisture and let you shed insulation without losing dexterity. Touchscreen-compatible liners let you use a phone without removing gloves, and removable liners speed drying and simplify layering on multi-day outings.

Nylon or polyester shells with DWR and seam-sealed waterproof membranes (10K/10K or Gore-Tex) keep wet snow out while allowing breathability. Durability comes from goatskin or leather palms, reinforced knuckles and double-layered fabrics, which can hold up to 50–100 days of heavy use.
