Men's Black Fedoras & Caps

Start by measuring around your head about 1/2 inch above the ears for an accurate circumference. Sizes span Small to 2XL (hat sizes 6 7/8 to 8) and many fedoras include an adjustable inner band for a snug fit.

Straw Panamas and lightweight straw weaves are best for hot weather because they breathe and stay light; models like the American Hat Makers Panama straw snap brim offer that ventilation. These styles wear well with summer outfits and help prevent overheating on sunny days.

Consider crown and brim proportions when choosing a fedora: teardrop crowns flatter oval faces while diamond crowns suit square jawlines, and typical crown heights range 4–6 inches. Brim widths from 2–4 inches change the look—shorter brims (1.5–2.5 inches) suit slimmer builds while wider brims balance broader faces.

Wool felt fedoras are ideal for cooler fall-winter conditions thanks to soft wool felt that holds shape and offers some water repellency; premium models like the Bruno Capelo wool felt with a teardrop crown combine durability with everyday style. High-quality felt can be reshaped with steam and tends to outlast lighter fabric constructions.

Safari and large-brim fedoras provide the most sun coverage, with wide brims typically over 3 inches to shield the face and neck. For versatility, choose breathable straw or snap-brim options so you can style the brim while keeping ventilation.
