Men's Green Climb Shorts

Think about where you climb most: bouldering shorts favor shorter inseams for ventilation and freedom, while sport models leave a bit more coverage and are harness-friendly for longer pitches. Approach shorts add water-resistant finishes and tougher fabrics for hikes to the crag, and models like Black Diamond's Sequence or Patagonia's climbing shorts illustrate those differences.

Shorter inseams are common for bouldering because they keep fabric out of the way during deep squats and high steps. Make sure the hem doesn't sit so close to your knee that it bunches against pads, and a gusseted crotch will prevent the fabric from pulling during big leg lifts.

Nylon blends deliver lightweight durability while polyester-spandex mixes provide stretch and moisture-wicking for high-output sessions. Recycled polyester options appear for lower-impact choices, and water-resistant finishes help when approaching damp or brushy terrain.

Many climbing shorts include zippered pockets and cargo pockets sized for chalk, keys, and small tools to keep gear secure when you move. Models like Black Diamond's Valley Shorts or Rafiki's lightweight designs often add secure closures so items stay put during technical moves.

Aim for an adjustable waistband with an integrated belt so you can fine-tune fit when wearing a harness, and avoid overly bulky belts that interfere with leg loops. A gusseted crotch helps keep fabric from pulling on high steps, and Patagonia and Black Diamond offer harness-friendly cuts to try.
