Knee Warmers

A snug, contoured fit that covers mid-thigh to mid-calf is best so your knee can flex without bunching or restriction. Look for silicone grippers about 2–4 inches wide and stretchy panels to keep them securely positioned under your shorts.

Thermal knee warmers with lofted fleece or Thermolite insulation are ideal for 40–60°F rides because they add warmth without causing overheating. Models like the Assos Spring Fall Knee Warmers EVO offer that transitional warmth at a lightweight ~50g per pair.

Yes, graduated compression up to about 15–20 mmHg can improve circulation and reduce joint stiffness during cooler training sessions. These styles typically use Italian elastic fabrics and anatomical shaping to provide support without limiting your pedaling.

For sub-40°F rides, thicker materials like neoprene, lofted thermal fleece, or merino wool with wind-resistant panels hold heat and block wind. Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Knee Warmers, for example, combine moisture-wicking fleece and reinforced seams for long endurance outings.

Silicone grippers, typically 2–4 inches wide, anchor the top and bottom edges while contoured cuts and anatomical shaping stop bunching around the knee. Combined with 4-way stretch panels, that geometry maintains mid-thigh to mid-calf coverage through long rides.
