Kids Green' Climbing Shoes

Size down about half to one size from street shoes and plan to wear them sockless, since kids have smaller heel volumes and more flexible Achilles tendons. Many youth options run EU 28–40, so try for a snug fit that still allows natural movement while minimizing heel slip.

For indoor sessions and all-day comfort, flat-lasted gym shoes are ideal because they offer sensitivity and easy on-off wear; models like the Black Diamond Kids Momentum highlight breathable knits and durable rubber for long practice sessions. Advanced bouldering calls for an aggressive, downturned shoe such as simplified junior versions of the Scarpa Drago Kid or La Sportiva Solution Comp JR to deliver better toe hooking and steep-edge precision.

Velcro straps provide easy adjustability and tend to support a snug fit as kids grow, while slip-ons and self-donning designs are quickest for independent on-off use and wide openings. Many kids' shoes combine simple closures with reinforced heels and toe boxes so the shoe stays secure during active play.

Sticky rubber around 4.2mm gives a good balance of grip for edging and longevity for repeated use, with flexible midsoles preserving sensitivity for young climbers. Look for construction that pairs a durable rubber compound—like Trax-style soles—with reinforced toe and heel areas for extra wear resistance.

Approach hybrids add grippy outsoles and often have laces or drawstrings to lock the foot in for uneven trails, so they perform well on mixed terrain and short scrambles. The flexible midsoles and hybrid traction let kids move easily from hiking to climbing while preserving comfort on the approach.
