Kids Green' Alpine Ski Gear

A good rule is to size kids’ skis chin-to-nose based on height and weight, with junior lengths ranging from about 44cm up to 130cm. For growing kids, consider models like the Salomon Xrange which go up to 100cm and offer a lightweight wood core for all-mountain versatility.

For junior boots, size by mondo point and check the last width—most kids fit 98–102mm lasts for a secure fit. A soft flex in the 20–40 range helps new skiers stay comfortable and makes turning easier, while stronger juniors may move toward 50–60 flex.

If they’re just starting and playing on gentle slopes or backyard snow, 17-inch skiskates are ideal for a minimal learning curve and quick confidence gains. Older beginners progressing to moderate terrain will appreciate 26-inch skiblades for more stability, and kids who want playful all-mountain feel can look at rocker profiles similar to the Rossignol Experience JR.

Choose helmets certified to ASTM F2040 or CE EN1077 for tested impact protection, and prefer models with reinforced shells for added durability on the hill. Padded Polartec fleece linings help block wind and add warmth while improving the helmet’s fit around ears and forehead.

Yes — many 17-inch skiskates feature bindings compatible with regular winter boots, which reduces the need for separate ski-specific footwear and simplifies gear for very young riders. For larger all-mountain or racing setups you’ll usually switch to standard ski bindings that are designed for ski-specific boots and DIN-adjustable systems.
